The Art of Living

seniors_thumbJune is here and the summer weather is just around the corner! Although it’s a month that is a symbol to a lot of youth that school is almost done, it is also a great time for elders because Senior’s Month is back in Ontario.

Yes – June is Senior’s Month and Ontario’s 2013 theme – The Art of Living– celebrates how seniors in Ontario have created their own unique approach to living.

The Town of Oakville is celebrating by offering a number of different events you can participate in:

  • Halton Region will be presenting their 2nd Annual Celebrating Seniors Event on Friday, June 20.
  • The Seniors Fair, an Olde Tyme Picnic, a Fit Walk, even an Art Show & Tea. Check the Town’s website to find out when everything takes place.
  • Oakville edition of Forever Young Fifty Plus that will be published once a month, reflecting the changes in families, careers and interests that have hit the baby boomers.

“Older Ontarians practice The Art of Living every day,  working hard and continuing to contribute much to the prosperity we all enjoy today,” writes Mario Sergio, Ontario’s Minister Responsible for Seniors. “Celebrating Seniors’ Month has become a collective way of giving something back.” It’s time to take advantage of this opportunity to say thanks and get engaged with your community. Bring your family and friends and make it a time to remember!

So we want to hear from you. How have you created your own unique approach to living? What tips do you have to share with us and your community?
